Some events this summer where we can finally have some fun again..
a few festivals and retreats to look forward to
How long has it been since you had fun with strangers?
For that matter, how long since you had fun with more than a handful of friends?
Hugging people, dancing around the fire, singing along with great musicians…these all feel like things from a distant past, something we’ll tell our grandchildren about.
But I believe better days are soon here. Yes, we might have to stay in our houses for a while longer but the tide is turning and when it does we’re all going to come out and party like never before.
The Road Junky Festival of Creativity (3-11 July in the Czech Republic) is one place where we’ll come together for 8 days of creative workshops and unplugged music beside a forest and lake, learning things ranging from astronomy to dance to creative writing to shamanic drum journeys. There’s no alcohol, no electricity and we make the food and tea for everyone.

The Big Green Gathering is another great event (29 July -1 August in Wales) with four days of music and arts all powered by renewable energies. Their solar stages feature: “up-and-coming talent, solo artistes, punk bands, politically conscious singer-songwriters, protest bands, global grooves, psychedelic sounds, folk tunes, swing, dance, ska, reggae, rap, cabaret, comedy and poetry.”

I’ll be sending out a couple more newsletters before the summer but if you’d prefer to look further ahead and further afield there will be a Road Junky meditative yoga and joy of movement retreat in the Sahara Desert (14-20 November in Morocco) - we’ve been running these events in the sand dunes for 10 years and we can’t wait to get back to the magic of camping in the Sahara.
